Our Case For Setting Up In Abuja
Olive Blooms Orphanage’s vision is to give every child a HOME. The mission is to advance the Care of
vulnerable children from institutional based care to family based care. Essentially, we aim to
restore every child into a natural home with loving parents and maybe also siblings, where they can
grow to the fullest of their potential. God has helped us immensely to run this vision. In the last
ten years we have been able to settle 64 children in families through adoptions, reconciliations and
guardianship.
From our research and interactions with Orphanages in Abuja we discover that a good percentage of
the children in the Orphanages in Abuja are not orphans but are vulnerable children who have at
least one parent or other relatives.
The insecurity in the northern part of Nigeria, natural disasters, gender and sexual orientation all
force countless boys and girls into institutions. Some others may be separated from their families
as a result of government policies that subsequently fail to provide for such children the most
basic needs for care and protection usually provided by families.
Vulnerable children who cannot go for adoption are inadvertently left to grow in institutions, which
on the long run is not in the best interest of the Child. Growing up in institutions puts children
at risk of physical, emotional and social harm.
How does Olive Blooms plan to help the vulnerable child in
Abuja?
OUR ABUJA HOME GOALS:
- Provide a transit home for vulnerable and abandoned children
- To focus on the root cause of child separation from family
- Engage in family based alternative care with communities
- Rehabilitate and support family to provide adequate care for the child.
